DAITHÍ KEARNEY

Foothold
Daithí Kearney

I have found a home amongst
Combine cut cornfields
Comfortable between urban pale and
Mountain of legends
Blown in and setting roots
Eager to blossom and fruit.

Wealthy hedgerows feed paupers
Berries on rambling walks
Exploring storied landscapes
Whose fields witnessed the epics
Of my youthful imagination
Coloured by poets’ affectation.

Daithí Kearney is an Irish poet and musician. From County Kerry, he now lives and lectures in County Louth on the east coast. His poetry is inspired by his surroundings and his young family. His poems have been recently published in Martello, Drawn to the Light, and Field Guide.
